I love translators who work hard to get us awesome content, but some things were definitely lost in translation. This clunky-ness is further compounded by the translation. As such I completely I agree with the anime’s abridged version. If I wasn't already familiar with at least a portion Overlord's large cast and locations I might have found this overwhelming. Reading this LN provided extra bits of dialogue, more POVs, and even new characters. Instead it was like adding an extra scoop of ice cream to an already delicious sundae.
